From Monday until Friday most people are busy working or studying; but in the evenings and off weekends they are free to relax and enjoy themselves。 Some watch television or go to the movie ;others participate in sports。 It depends on individual interests。 There are many different ways to end our spare time。 Almost everyone has some kind of hobby。 Some hobbies are worth a lot of money; others are valuable only to their owners。 I know a man Who has a coin collection worth several thousand yuan。 A short time ago he bought a rare ten…yuan piece worth 250 yuan。 He was very happy about the purchase and thought the price was reasonable; on the other hand; my students collects match boxes。 He has almost 600 of them but I doubt if they are worth any money。 However; to my student they are extremely valuable。 Nothing makes him happier than to find a new match…box for his collection。
I have many hobbies; such as reading; skating; and watching TV。 But reading is my favorite hobby。
I like reading for three reasons。 First of all; books introduce me to a new world; which is colourful and without time and space limit; Through reading; I can trace back。 to ancient Egypt; the cradle of human civilization。 It can bring myself to the United states; a glamorous land I have been longing to visit。 Secondly; reading can better myself by showing me a new horizon。 In the past years; most of my knowledge has been obtained from books。 I have learned from many people by reading about their ideas on scithee; politics; life and society。 Thirdly; reading bridge the gap between my dream and my goal。 In order to succeed in my career in the future; I must keep reading; thinking and practising。
Reading has bee part of my life。 Every day; I spend some time reading books; newspapers and magazines。 At night; I can hardly go to steep without a novel in my hand。
That’s what a hobby mean ; I guess 。 It is something we like to do in our are time simply for the fun of it。 The value in money is not important; but the pleasure it gives us
Speech for Candidate of Student Union
Since I came to the college; I have been holding positions of class and youth league union。 I also have done some pragmatic work for the university and our schoolmates。 During the munication with our schoolmates; I feel it deep that the cohesion of a unit lies in a developing and advancing collective; while the strength for it es from sincerity; understanding and contributions。 As a leader of student; one should have a firm belief with sacrifice。 As a leader of student; one should be willing to make up the gap between man and man; idea and reality with his fierce feelings。 As a leader of student; one should not be selfish。 What he seeks for is to work hard and give himself up to the service。
I; as one of the thousands of students of Economy College; am proud of it。 I would be more willing to take up the duty belonging to me。 This is my initial hope。 This is why I am standing here today。
I remember one candidate himself said loudly; 〃Should I leave the position quietly or be bold to stay?〃 During the last petition for student union。 As a result; he was bold to stay for the position。 To day; I would like to let everyone know that I hope that I will be kept for the position。 Even though I fail; I won't leave quietly and angrily out of spite because I am a member of Economy College; and because my roots are in the Mei Campus。
No mater where I go; Mei Campus always stays with me and my deep feelings to it always keeps in me。 I would like to work heart and soul; for my love of Mei Campus。 I earnestly hope to contribute my feelings and fervently hope to share the happiness and be concerned about the worries with every one of Mei campus。
*My Attitude towards Marks
For our students; marks are above everything。 Teachers will judge us from our marks。 With marks we can be enrolled into junior middle schools。 With marks; we can be enrolled into senior middle schools。 With marks we can be enrolled into college。 With marks we can be enrolled into postgraduate and doctor studies。 Still with marks we can be graded and be allowed to go abroad for further studies。 Our parents will be strict with us with the marks。 Our society judges us from marks。 However; sometimes we students pare one another with marks directly。 We are pletely controlled by marks。 We like them and we feel sorry for them。 But what attitude towards our marks should we take?
Truly; marks functions cannot be underestimated。 In terms of test in our study; marks are fair and real。 That is the reason why we say; 〃Everyone is equal before marks。〃
However; I didn't think marks are the sole standard to judge the success or failure of studtens in exams。 Sometimes; marks more than ten or less than one or two in our exams paring with othe
